2nd Sunday on King Street is September 11,


Followed by a Special 9/11 Tribute at Marion Square

2nd Sunday on King Street, Charleston's most popular shopping, dining and cultural event, continues September 11, 2011 from 1:00-5:00 PM. More information about 2nd Sunday food, musicians, events and activities can be found at www.2ndsundayonkingstreet.com.

This month, 2nd Sunday will be followed by a special City of Charleston 10-year anniversary commemoration concert in remembrance of September 11, 2001.

The free concert takes place at Marion Square from 5:00 - 6:30 PM. It will be in partnership with Operation R&R, a non-profit organization designed to provide service men and women an opportunity to reconnect with their spouses and children on a vacation when they return from deployments Iraq and Afghanistan.

Reflective and patriotic music will be performed by the Charleston Community Band, Charleston Men's Chorus, Charleston Symphony Orchestra Chorus, College of Charleston, the Citadel and others. The event will honor and remember our first responders, military service men and women and those who perished in all of the events on September 11, 2001. Attendees should bring blankets or folding chairs for seating on the lawn at Marion Square. Free parking is available at the Gaillard Parking Garage on Calhoun Street.
